The Odisha government will construct a new high-level bridge over the Kathajodi river on the upstream side of the existing Subash Chandra Bose Setu to provide a direct link between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. The proposed bridge is set to become a prime connection between the twin cities and is expected to ease traffic congestion on NH-16, the key corridor linking Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
According to officials, the project has acquired importance since an 8-lane road from Bhubaneswar Airport to Nandankanan Zoological Park is also being proposed. The expanded route and the new bridge will provide quicker and more direct access to Cuttack city. M/s SPS Construction India Pvt Ltd’s lowest turnkey proposal was accepted by the State Cabinet for the project. The bid amount, excluding GST, is Rs 158,88,90,305 (Rupees One Hundred Fifty-eight Crore Eighty-eight Lakh Ninety Thousand Three Hundred Five). The goal is to finish the project in 36 calendar months.
