The Covid Treatment Protocol will not change in India: NTF

There will be no change in India’s Covid treatment in the context of the new strain of the Covid virus spreading in the UK. The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Task Force (NTF) on Saturday. The need for any change in the covid 19 testing, monitoring and surveillance strategy in the country has been denied. The decision was made in view of the mutation in the UK strain, while there is no need for a change in the treatment protocol.

Binod Pal, ICMR Director General Dr. Balaram Vargab, AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria, Director General of Health Services, Director of Drug Control India, National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) were also present at the NTF meeting convened by the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR).

The meeting discussed in detail the new strains of the UK, as well as the country’s testing and treatment systems. It also considered testing advice on ICMR’s two and more genes. At the same time, the Indian government was said to be in contact with other countries over the viral mutation reported by the UK.
