On the occasion of birth anniversary of Saheed Baji Rout, youngest Martyr of Indian freedom struggle several organizations paid their tributes by garlanding the statue of Saheed Baji Rout in Dhenkanal.
Similarly, Dhenkanal Concious citizen forum celebrated the birth anniversary of Saheed Baji Rout by garlanding the statue of Saheed Baji Rout present near Baji chowk in Dhenkanal. The event was presided over by the city president Amrendra Swain along with several members and officials of the organization.
Saheed Baji Rout was shot at the age of 12 by British police when he refused to ferry them across the river Brahmani at Nilakanthapur ghat on the night of October 11, 1938. He was a member of Banar Sena of the Praja Mandal Andolan. He was born on October 5, 1926 at Nilakanthapur village in Bhuban block of Dhenkanal district.
