Odisha sees a big spike in the daily COVID cases. For the first time in many months, the daily new COVID cases have breached the 10k mark. In the last 24 hours, as per the reports, Odisha has witnessed 10,059 new COVOD cases which are more than 1500 new cases recorded in the previous day.
Out of the total cases, 5,833 were detected in quarantine while 4,226 are local contact cases, said the I&PR department. Khordha district reported a maximum of 3,188 cases, followed by Sundergarh (1348), Cuttack (870), and Sambalpur (570).

Details of Covid cases in other districts: Mayurbhanj (423), Balasore (278), Puri (272), Jharsuguda (219), Bolangir (216), Jajpur (212), Koraput (155), Ganjam (154), Jagatsinghpur (142), Bhadrak (138), Rayagada (131), Kalahandi (123), Nabarangpur (122), Keonjhar (109), Sonepur (106) and Nayagarh (102).
Similarly, districts that reported less than 100 cases are– Gajapati (82), Bargarh (76), Nuapada (66), Kendrapara (51), Dhenkanal (50), Angul (46), Kandhamal (36), Dhenkanal (18), Malkangiri (17), Boudh (15) and State Pool (724).
However, the death rate in the third wave continues to remain low, the trend which has been seen right from Day 1 of the third wave of COVID 19 in India.
