In what seems to be good news for the people of Odisha, the state will receive above-average rainfall in the month of June. The news has been confirmed by the IMD Bhubaneshwar.
Southwest Monsoon seasonal (June to September) rainfall over the country as a whole is most likely to be normal. In the case of Odisha, there will be normal and above rainfall at a few places and below normal rainfall at the remaining places.
Conditions are favorable for further advance of the southwest monsoon into some parts of the central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Kerala, some more parts of Tamil Nadu, some parts of Karnataka, and some more parts of south and Central Bay of Bengal, some parts of the northeast Bay of Bengal and northeastern states during next 2-3 days.
While it is yet to be ascertained when the monsoon will touch Odisha, the system is being regularly monitored, said Mohapatra.
