At its 9th convocation event on Friday, Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University, Puri awarded an honorary doctorate to Achyuta Samanta, the founder of KISS and KIIT. Odisha Governor and University Chancellor Prof. Ganeshi Lal awarded Prof. Samanta the D.Lit. “Prajnana-Vachaspati” for his exceptional work in education and social service. It was Prof. Samanta’s 53rd honour of this kind. Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University gave out this honorary doctorate for the first time.
Pratibha Ray, a renowned author and advocate for education, stated in her presentation at the Convocation that every university ought to confer an honorary doctorate on Prof. Samanta in recognition of his job. Dr Samanta thanked the Education Council, the University Syndicate, and the university administration for choosing him for this honour. He referred to it as a privilege that he began his academic career in Puri and received an honorary degree from this city, and he said that this will inspire him to give back to society more.
Prof. Rabindra Panda, Chancellor of the University, and Registrar Sumitra Pattanaik were among those in attendance for the Convocation event.
