All Panchayats Of Odisha To Have Broadband Connectivity By 2021

Tushar Kanti Behera, Electronic and Information Technology Minister informed that soon all the Gram panchayats of Odisha will have broadband connectivity by the coming year.

At the Odisha Development Global Forum through video-conferencing, Minister said that the Gram Panchayat who are lacking Internet broadband connectivity will soon be provided as now the whole world has been digitalized and working online every day.

The Forum was organized by the Odisha Society of Americas’ (OSA) library chapter Odisha Public Library Initiative (OPLI) and attended by many experts thought leader on Odisha’s development and library movement lovers worldwide. 

Bishnupada Sethi, Principal Secretary, Disaster Management and culture talked about the idea of public libraries. Professor Damodar Acharya, a renowned litterateur discussed the IIT alumni who will reach all assistance to OSA and OPLI in stimulating school students on the habit of reading. 

Dr. Manas Ranjan Debata, Additional Secretary in charge of MGNREGAS applauded the efforts of OSA in spreading library culture. He further stated that all 139 panchayat level libraries in the Sambalpur district will be operative by January 26, 2021, under MGNREGAS.

The chief organizer of the summit and president of OSA Kuku Das proposed to set up at least one ICT equipped library in all districts of the state with internet connectivity and recommended to put all libraries under one umbrella program called “Mo Library”.

Prof Chitta Baral sought Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s intervention in attaching high priority to the OSA’s agenda for Odisha’s growth.

Along with other renowned persons who attended the brainstorming internet, the event also included former director of NIIT Prof Sunil Sarangi, former DG of Election Commission of India Prasanna Dash, Nalini Patnaik, Vivek Das, Sudhir Raut, Nishikant Sahoo, Dr. Basant Parida, Ajay Mohanty, Dr. Debendra Majhi, Anil Patnaik, Utkal Nayak, Kunna Dash, Arun Praharaj, Saswat Padhi, Susmita Rajhans, and Dr. Sital Kumar.
