The airstrip at Ramgovindapur’s Amarda Road will soon be operational. Minister of Commerce and Transport Bibhuti Bhusan Jena stated that the plan to upgrade the Amarda Road (Rasgovindapur) airstrip for future operations under the UDAN Scheme will soon come to fruition and that it will be developed as a commercial airport with the acquisition of more land area and necessary infrastructure.
Regarding the airstrip, Minister Jena and Minister of Housing and Urban Development Krushna Chandra Mohapatra had lengthy conversations. In the Mayurbhanj district, Amarda Road airstrip is a former military airstrip close to Rasgovindpur. Constructed during the 1940s, the runway measures 11,000 feet in length.
An official news release stated that Minister Jena examined the airstrip’s progress and recommended the prompt fulfillment of all required legalities. Additionally, Tankadhar Tripathy, the Jharsuguda MLA, was present when the topic of the airport’s overall growth was explored.
