The Ministry of Coal’s proposal to nominate Shri B. Sairam as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Coal India Limited (CIL) has been accepted by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). He will take over as CMD of Coal India Limited, with a salary range of ₹2,00,000 to ₹3,70,000 (IDA), replacing his current position as CMD of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL).
According to the permission, his appointment will take effect on the day he takes over the position and last until his superannuation date, which is March 31, 2028, or until future directives, whichever comes first. Through the Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Government of India, the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) has communicated the decision. Copies of the order have been sent to the Cabinet Secretariat, the Prime Minister’s Office, and other relevant authorities for review and appropriate action.
The appointment is expected to provide leadership continuity at Coal India Limited, the country’s largest coal producer and a key contributor to India’s energy security.
