Yesterday, there was a tragic railway accident in West Bengal. The Bikaner-Guwahati Express derailed while it was moving at a speed of around 40 kilometers per hour. 12 coaches derailed simultaneously and as a result, there were chaos and tension all around. The coaches are in a bad shape, and seeing the situation, it can easily be understood that many people have faced serious injuries.
As per the official reports so far, 9 people have lost their lives and 36 people are injured. The numbers will go high as rescue operations are still on for recovering injured persons/ dead bodies.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Friday visited the site, where Guwahati-Bikaner Express derailed near Domohani, Jalpaiguri, the previous evening. “A statutory inquiry has been initiated. PM Modi is monitoring the situation and I am in constant touch with him. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” he told the media.
The Centre has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of the deceased, Rs 1 lakh for severely injured, and Rs 25,000 for those with minor injuries.
