A Biman Bangladesh plane Biman Air BG-022 made an emergency landing at Nagpur on August 27, after the pilot suffered a heart attack mid-air which was en route to Dhaka from Muscat.
According to the official reports, the Biman air cockpit contacted the Nagpur Air Traffic Controller (ATC) and informed them that a pilot suffered a severe heart attack and required immediate assistance. The aircraft was flying above Chhattisgarh capital Raipur when the crisis occurred. Contact was established with Kolkata air traffic control (ATC) immediately. Kolkata ATC coordinated with Nagpur ATC and instructed the pilot to land at Nagpur airport.
The report further added that all the passengers on board are safe, while the captain was been taken to a hospital. Biman Bangladesh recently resumed flights with India following a lengthy suspension of services between the two countries due to the COVID-19 surge.
