Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared that all urban local bodies and gram panchayats will need to furnish proof that these are fully prepared on the drinking water supply front.
According to the report, while addressing a meeting of senior officials and representatives of panchayats and urban bodies, CM Patnaik stated that an early onset of summer means higher probability of heat waves developing earlier than expected. So he advised that everyone needs to be prepared and in advance.

The report further depicts that the regions facing drinking water problems need to be identified and the issues should be addressed immediately. And the places which are facing the drinking water problems should be monitored on a regular basis.
CM further stated that the officials who neglect the drinking water problems will be facing serious consequences. The State Government has spent a lot of money for developing drinking water infrastructure in both rural and urban areas of Odisha.

CM the added that the grievances pertaining to drinking water should be addressed within 24 hours and mobile vans and teams should be ready to address any problems with the water supply. Even all the tubewells and pipes should be inspected and made functional on an urgent basis.
Along with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaink, Chief Secretary Suresh Mahapatra, Development Commissioner PK Jena, Agricultural Production Commissioner RK Sharma, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian and senior officials were also presented at the meeting which was organised through video conferencing.
