The Cold Westerly Winds have created a severe cold wave in most parts from India. From Kashmir, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan to even Mumbai the cold westerly winds have reduced the mercury level to a great extent. Similar is the case with Odisha. Odisha has been witnessing bone-chilling weather for the past 7 days. The mercury level is on consistent fall and several places in the state has also witnessed snowfall.

Kandhamal district in Odisha continued to shiver under intense ice-cold chill with mercury plummeting to 3.6 degree Celsius at Phulbani on Tuesday night. While Phulbani saw the season’s coldest night, Daringbadi recorded 4.5 degree Celsius, Bhubaneswar Meteorological Department tweeted.
The mercury dropped below 10 degree Celsius at 17 places in the state. Jharsuguda and Sundargarh recorded 6 degree Celsius, followed by Keonjhar and Sonepur at 6.4 degree Celsius, Titlagarh (6.5), Bhawanipatna (6.8), Koraput (7), Boudh and Angul at 8 degree Celsius each, Hirakud (8.4), Balangir (8.5), Sambalpur (8.6), Talcher and Nayagarh at 9 degree Celsius and Chandbali (9.7).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 10.1 and 10.6 degree Celsius, respectively.
