The Odisha Government allows the State and Mass Education Department of Odisha for the opening of commerce stream at the higher secondary level in 30 Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) from the new academic session of 2021-22
The state government decided to create 60 new Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) posts in the Commerce stream at the 30 OAVs in the new academic session. Raghuram R. Iyer, Additional Secretary, School, and Mass Education Department wrote a letter to the State Project Director (SPD) of OAVs stating that he is directed to inform that the State Government has now approved the proposal presented for the opening of Commerce stream in 30 Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs).
The letter further stated that in those 30 Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs), 60 posts of PGT in Commerce stream (Level-11 in Pay matrix under ORSP Rules, 2017) instead of the repeal of existing 30 posts each of PGT, Hindi, and PGTn will be created.
Samir Ranjan Dash, the School, and Mass Education Minister also stated that the Odisha Government will introduce the vocational courses in Adarsha Vidyalaya which are the state-run English medium schools that are affiliated to the CBSE. And the vocational courses are not yet opened in these model schools.
Earlier the State government had opened the Science Stream at the higher secondary level in Adarsha Vidyalayas in 2019-2020 academic sessions. Around 400 crores under the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya scheme was allowed by the State Government in the last budget. The scheme was approved for the establishment of block-level model schools and the functioning of the existing ones.
