Commissionerate Police Issues Strict Directive Over Appointment Of Bouncers In Bars

The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police has issued a strict directive with regard to the appointment of private security personnel/bouncers by liquor bar owners under its jurisdiction for the next two months.

According to the reports it stated that it is mandatory for bar owners to get the previous criminal record of the private security personnel checked by the DCP of the concerned area before the appointment. Bar owners can engage security personnel from private security agencies. Bar owners have to inform the local police in writing about the security personnel engaged by them.

It further added that the engaged security personnel shall come under the purview of the general law. Bar owners can share details of this security personnel by calling 112 wherever necessary. Under no circumstances, this security personnel can violate the fundamental rights of customers.

The directive was issued since it has come to the notice of the government that several criminal cases have been registered against such security personnel in the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police area in the recent past. There is a threat to the life of customers and a breach of peace in society from bouncers.
