Congress Stages Protest Against Threats To Rahul Gandhi, Demands Police Action

On Thursday, BJP and Shiv Sena representatives are accused of making disparaging remarks about Rahul Gandhi and threatening him with death. In response, Congress members and leaders organized a protest in Bhubaneswar. After filing a formal complaint against Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, UP Minister Raghuraj Singh, BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah, and Shiv Sena (Shinde) MLA Sanjay Gaikwad, a sizable contingent of Congressmen marched from Congress Bhawan to the Kharvel Nagar police station.

As the Congress Party gains traction under Gandhi’s leadership as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, the demonstrators urged legal action against these leaders, accusing them of launching personal assaults against Gandhi. They expressed dissatisfaction among BJP leaders by claiming that the party has effectively opposed policies like UPSC lateral entry and modifications to the SC/ST creamy layer quota. Congressmen denounced the BJP for allegedly making intolerable threats, citing a recent statement made by Marwah in which she threatened Gandhi with “the same fate as his grandmother” if he didn’t “behave.”

Gandhi has been charged by BJP leaders for allegedly making anti-Indian remarks while traveling overseas. Such insulting remarks and threats, according to the Congress protestors, have no place in a democracy and should be denounced.
