The Health and Family Welfare Department extended the deadline for the first dose mop-up Coronavirus vaccination of the remaining healthcare workers in Odisha till 25the February.
As per the official reports, Odisha has achieved around 85 percent of COVID-19 vaccination coverage in the first phrase till February 13. As targeted by the Centre Government to cover 100 percent Coronavirus vaccination but many districts from Odisha failed to achieve it. Due to which the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare extended the deadline for the first phase.
But this is not the first time the date for the vaccination has been extended. The first phrase was originally extended up to February 13 as only 80 percent of the frontline workers was covered.
Pradipta Mohapatra, the Additional Chief Secretary in the Health and Family Welfare department has directed all the asked collectors, municipal commissioners, and chief district medical officers, and public health officers to ensure that all the HCWs are covered by February 25.
Mahapatra stated that this is a mom-up drive to assure that all the HCWs who have missed the vaccination get their shot. And all the districts were asked to achieve 100 percent coverage of the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination of HCWs by 13the February but the districts have failed to acquire 100 % of the vaccination because of which the MoHFW extended the timeline for the mom-up vaccination for the remaining HCW till 25the February.
The State government has directed Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, and Chief District Medical and Public Health Officers to closely monitor the vaccination drive and ensure all registered left-out beneficiaries are given the opportunity to at least get vaccinated twice.
Mahapatra informed that the districts have been asked to dispatch the information to the remaining beneficiaries during session scheduling and requested the workers to come forward and take their vaccinations.
