Cyclone Mandous rear sector has moved into the land and the landfall process has been completed, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday.
As per IMD, the system is very likely to move nearly westnorthwestwards and gradually weaken into a deep depression by today noon. The system moved at a speed of 8 kmph during the past six hours. Wind speed reaching 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph is very likely to prevail till the morning of December 10 along and off Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and South Andhra Pradesh coasts. The wind speed is likely to reduce to 30-40 kmph by noon today.
Light to moderate rainfall is likely at most places with heavy to heavy rainfall at isolated places over north interior Tamil Nadu and Rayalseema and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh.
