The cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ has wreaked havoc across the coastal districts of Odisha including Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Bhadrak and also affected many other districts of the state. Dhenkanal district has also been not able to escape from its wrath. Though there was not any major damage reported due to this tropical cyclone but it has still battered the people across the district. However, no causalities have been reported from the district as of now.
Around six thousand people were evacuated to safe places prior to landfall of the cyclone. The winds started blowing at a speed of 40-50kmph from yesterday night and gusted up to 60-70 kmph and more till evening.

Since morning the weather of Dhenkanal remained cloudy and rainy. As per the information there have been only reports of trees uprooted and falling of asbestos roofs in few places. All the concern authorities like Fire brigade, electric department etc were alarmed and on full alert to handle any situation.
