The number of those killed in the Puri firecracker explosion increased to 13 on Sunday with the passing of two additional patients while they were receiving treatment.
According to the state Health & Family Welfare Department, which was cited by the Odisha Special Relief Commissioner, two more people perished in the tragic Puri fire catastrophe on May 29. In this regard, the death toll increased to 13. It stated, “The Puri District Collector has taken action to provide the next of kin of deceased persons with ex-gratia assistance in the amount of Rs 4.00 lakh each.”
Currently, 17 patients are receiving care at various hospitals located in Puri, Cuttack, and Bhubaneswar.
The announcement further stated that the state government is keeping a close eye on the issue.
