Decent Dress Mandatory For Devotees Visiting Puri Srimandir From New Year

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has urged worshipers to dress modestly when entering the temple in an effort to foster a feeling of spirituality and devotion there. The updated standards will take effect on January 1, 2024. According to a servant, the new guidelines will be made known to followers starting on Tuesday. At the entry, the Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) and Pratihari servants will check the pilgrims’ attire. He stated that anyone discovered to be going against the rules will be prevented from accessing the temple.

“It is frequently noticed that the majority of devotees are visiting the temple wearing modern dresses, which affects the spiritual sanctity of the shrine,” SJTA Chief Administrator Ranjan Dash remarked. Therefore, it is agreed upon by everyone that devotees must adhere to suitable clothing standards. They should dress modestly when visiting the temple. No sleeveless shirts, faded, or ribbed jeans are permitted. Beginning tomorrow, we will inform individuals about this.

He said that young children under the age of 12 are permitted to wear half-pants. When visiting parks and the beach, people are completely free to wear anything they like. Dash emphasized that devotion offerings in the shrine must be made while appropriately attired. According to him, religious institutions across the nation have rigorous dress codes.
