The COVID situation in Delhi is becoming from bad to worse. Moreover, all of these is happening very quickly. While there were less than 100 cases a few days back, the daily positive cases have shot have 50 times in these few days. Moreover, many people in Delhi are also getting infected with the Omicron variant of COVID 19. Today morning, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal too tested positive for COVID 19.
Today, the capital state of India had more than 5000 new COVID cases. Looking at the grim situation of the state, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has imposed weekend curfews in the state with immediate effect. Moreover, work from home has been imposed on government offices in new restrictions to tackle a surge in Covid cases driven by Omicron. Buses and the Delhi metro will, however, operate at full capacity.

“DDMA has decided to impose a curfew in Delhi on Saturdays and Sundays to curb COVID surge. All government officials except for those engaged in essential services will work from home. 50% workforce of private offices will work from home,” Mr Sisodia told reporters.
“Buses and metro will function at 100 per cent but not without a mask. There is nothing to worry about. Make masks your shield.” Earlier, both services were ordered to operate at half their capacity but that led to chaotic long queues and crowds.
A 10 pm to 5 am night curfew is already in place in Delhi as part of “yellow alert” restrictions announced on December 29. Cinemas, gyms are shut and shops have been allowed on an odd-even basis.
