Dhenkanal Municipality has come forward with a step to make various art out of e-waste, which would be placed at different places in the town like parks, chowks, wards, etc. The civic body has come out with the mission ‘ Best out of Waste’ which is being carried out with the help of the Government ITI, Dhenkanal. The scraps and e-waste collected by the Swachh Sathis of Dhenkanal Municipality every Saturday are then further collected by the Government ITI students, and they then makes different art out of the waste collected.
Dhabalesh Prasad Sahoo, a student of the Government ITI, Dhenkanal said, “We have collected the e-waste from the municipality, and then we made different art by using the waste. We used to throw this waste away, but I am glad that atleast we could make some art using this waste.”
Bhawani Sankar Swain, instructor of fitter, at the Government ITI, Dhenkanal said, ” We have collected the e-waste from Dhenkanal Municipality’s MRF centres. Then we started the preparations with our students and staff from different branches, then we have decided to create different art and sculptures from the waste, and finally we have completed creating many art from the e-waste.”
The civic body has planned to install these arts made out of e-waste at different important chowks, streets, wards, and parks in the town.
Dhenkanal Municipality Executive Officer Tarun Kumar Mohapatra said, ” Every Saturday electronics waste collection is being done by the Swacch Sathis in their battery-operated vehicle and brought to the MRF centres and then Government ITI students, with the help of their teachers and staffs give shape to different decorative items. The decorative items made from the waste will be placed in parks, wards, bus stand and in different places in the town for awareness and motivation.”
