Dhenkanal – The district-level Millets Day was celebrated on Friday at the old Zilla Parishad Hall in Dhenkanal, organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment.
The Chairperson of the Zilla Parishad, Mrs. Archana Puhan, attended the event as the Chief Guest whileh Denkanal Municipality Chairperson Mrs. Jayanti Patra attended as the Guest of Honour.

At the beginning of the event, Chief District Agriculture Officer Mr. Bishwanath Das delivered the welcome address. He explained the purpose of observing Millets Day and highlighted the crucial role of women in preserving agricultural heritage and biodiversity. He informed that the millet cultivation program is being implemented in 177 blocks across the state, including five blocks of Dhenkanal district—namely Hindol, Bhuban, Kankadahad, Odapada, and Gondia.

Senior Scientist of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mr. Bimalendu Mahanti, Assistant Marketing Officer of TDCC, Mr. Bibhu Padaravinda Satapathy, and Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Society, Mr. Uma Shankar Das, also shared insights on the importance and benefits of millet cultivation.

On this occasion, the guests inaugurated various stalls exhibiting Shri Anna products. Farmers cultivating millets, members of Self-Help Groups, and supporting volunteers were felicitated for their contributions.
The program was coordinated by Ms. Madhusmita Satapathy, Agriculture Officer of Kankadahad Block. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by ADAR Dr. Dibya Ranjan Mishra.
