According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Saravana Vivek M, the Bhubaneswar police have banned DJ music during Dussehra idol immersion processions in the city and issued a warning that infractions will result in the seizure of equipment and the filing of criminal cases.

In Bhubaneswar, DJ music is not allowed during immersion processions. A criminal complaint will be filed and the DJ equipment would be taken if someone breaks the restrictions, according to Saravana.

He continued by saying that the cops suggested using traditional musical instruments when the organizers asked for clarity about DJ music substitutes.

Additionally, security has been set up by the police for “Ravan Podi” gatherings at nine different locations throughout Bhubaneswar. The DCP claims that the events have been approved and that the organizers have received safety instructions to avoid mishaps. A minimum of 100 meters must be kept in all directions from each “Ravan Podi” location as part of the safety precautions. According to him, fireworks storage facilities ought to be at least 250 meters from the event locations.

Each of the nine locations will have two police platoons stationed there, and fire department units have been called in to handle any crises. The DCP asked the organizers to work with the police and fire service workers and expressed optimism that the proceedings would end peacefully. In the meantime, the city’s idol immersion ritual, or Dussehra Bhasani Utsav, has been meticulously planned by the police. Six temporary immersion ponds have been constructed by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC): three along the Kuakhai River, one near the Daya River, one near Centurion University, and one in the Chandaka region.

A total of 48 platoons of police personnel, along with around 100 officers of various ranks, will be deployed to maintain law and order during the immersion ceremonies, Saravana said. The police have urged organisers and participants to follow the prescribed guidelines and cooperate with the authorities to ensure that the festivities are conducted peacefully.
