Born and raised in Odisha, Dr. Das completed his early education in Odia medium schools before pursuing a degree in Commerce with a specialization in Accounting Honors. Financial constraints meant that a technical education was not an option, but his ambition led him to seek alternatives. His exposure to the IT world came unexpectedly when he moved to Bhubaneswar to stay with his brother, who worked at KIIT. Living among engineering students preparing for careers in technology, he was drawn to the possibilities of the field. “I kept asking myself—how can I enter this world without a technical degree?” That question led him to pursue an MBA in IT and Business Analytics, a decision that set him on a trajectory toward the world of data science.
His professional journey took him through some of the world’s leading corporations—UnitedHealth Group, Tata, IBM, HP, and HSBC—where he mastered the application of data-driven insights to solve complex business challenges. Each role exposed him to different industries, from healthcare and telecom to retail and banking credit risk. At UnitedHealth Group, he worked on leveraging analytics to improve healthcare outcomes. At Tata, he explored telecom analytics, while IBM and HP provided him insights into supply chain management through predictive analytics. At HSBC, he worked on credit risk modeling, where data-driven decision-making played a crucial role in financial security and fraud prevention. These experiences not only shaped his expertise but also deepened his understanding of how industries depend on data science to drive growth, efficiency, and innovation.
Through his extensive industry experience, Dr. Das recognized a major gap—traditional education alone was failing to prepare students for real-world challenges in data science. He had witnessed firsthand how individuals with strong analytical skills but non-technical backgrounds often struggled to break into the field simply because they lacked formal training. This realization drove him to create a solution that would democratize learning and open doors for aspiring professionals. It was during this time that he met his friend Venkat from Andhra Pradesh, and together, they set out to change the landscape of data science education. Their initiative, which started as a small training program, soon evolved into a full-fledged venture—DV Analytics. Named after their initials, with “D” representing Dev (Dr. Das) and “V” representing Venkat, the platform became a symbol of their mission to make data science education accessible and industry-aligned. Today, DV Analytics has trained over 7,500 students with a remarkable 95% placement rate, helping thousands secure jobs in top IT firms across India and beyond.
What distinguishes Dr. Das’s approach is his commitment to practical, hands-on learning. “The problem with traditional education is that it doesn’t always prepare students for real-world challenges. Memorizing concepts isn’t enough—application is key.” At DV Analytics, students undergo intensive training in database management, data analysis and visualization, predictive modeling and AI, and cloud computing—the four pillars of a successful data science career.
