The additional responsibility of Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has been granted to Prof. Kishore K. Basa, Chairman of the National Monuments Authority (NMA).
Prof. Basa will hold the extra responsibility up to further instructions or the appointment of a regular Director General of ASI, whichever comes first, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Culture today.
Prof. Basa formerly held the positions of Chairman of the Indian National Confederation and the Academy of Anthropologists in addition to being the former Vice Chancellor of the Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo University in Odisha.
He formerly held positions as chairman of the Anthropology department and lecturer at Utkal University in Bhubaneswar. In 1991, he earned his PhD from the University of London.
