According to police sources, a man was detained in Bhubaneswar on Friday for reportedly trying to influence police action in a case while posing as a National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigator. After his actions sparked suspicions among police officers, the culprit was taken into custody at the Kharavela Nagar Police Station.
Sources claim that once the guy arrived at the police station, he reportedly put pressure on the officers to move quickly in a case that one of his female acquaintances had filed. He claimed to be a National Investigation Agency (NIA) official throughout the conversation, and he provided a fake identity card to back up his assertion.
The accused showed up in a car that looked like an actual police vehicle, according to the authorities. The automobile had a Tamil Nadu registration number and stickers with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ and the Government of India’s insignia, which gave his allegation even more legitimacy.
Police called the NIA’s regional headquarters for confirmation after becoming suspicious of his actions and qualifications. The man was allegedly arrested after the agency verified that he had nothing to do with it. The vehicles, the fictitious identification card, and other false documents were taken from him by the police. Investigators believe the accused may have defrauded others and obtained financial advantages by posing as a central agency official. According to insiders, more research is being done on the issue.
