The Odisha government has discarded five districts from the list of Naxal-hit areas. Due to which the number of Left Wing Extremism affected districts has deducted to 10.
These districts include– Angul, Boudh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, and Nayagarh. Police DGP Abhay informed that the state has made notable accomplishments in regulating Maoist activities in these districts.
A total of 11 districts in the state are officially free from Maoists. In April 2018, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, and Ganjam were declared free from Maoist activities.
Now the State Government has confirmed of removing these five more districts from the SRE scheme. Due to the impact of security response and good governance by the State Government eleven districts have been assessed to be free from Maoist activities.
Even the IG Police Amitabh Thakur informed that the Odisha Police department is working hard to make the whole Odisha Left Wing Extremism (LWE) free.
