Legendary former newscaster of All India Radio (AIR) Upendra Kumar Pahadsingh, who became a household name for his mesmerising Odia news reading in the 90s, passed away in Delhi.
According to the reports, the iconic newsreader of AIR had a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Delhi and lost his life at the age of 84. The news was broke by the official Twitter handle of AIR News Cuttack where it quoted- “Former senior newsreader of All India Radio, Upendra Kumar Pahadsingh Passes away.”
He passed on 28 June at Max Hospital while undergoing treatment as he was admitted due to Hypoglycemia (drop in blood sugar (glucose) level). Because of other complications followed after the hospitalisation, he stayed at the hospital for around one and a half months. However, he suffered a massive cardiac arrest and passed away.
In the 90s, Pahadsingh was one of the most popular newscasters of Odia news being aired from Delhi. His unique style of news reading had fascinated millions of listeners.
