Ahead of the state’s impending Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, former Odisha Minister Debasis Nayak, who had previously represented Bari in the Assembly, resigned from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
The former minister informed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik of his decision to step down as the regional party’s principal member effective immediately in a letter to the president of the BJD.
The most recent sources state that Nayak joined the BJP shortly after resigning from his primary BJD membership.
