As the state prepares for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2027, Gujarat and Odisha are looking for ways to connect Gujarat’s semiconductor, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing sectors with Odisha’s well-established metals and minerals businesses. The talks happened during a roadshow for the summit at Vivanta in Bhubaneswar, which brought together government officials and corporate representatives to discuss technology alliances, investment prospects, and economic collaboration between the two states.

Jayram Gamit, the Gujarat Minister of State for Industries and MSMEs, and Lochan Sehra, the Secretary of the Labor, Skill Development, and Employment Department, met with business and institution leaders prior to the roadshow. Strengthening industrial linkages and finding ways for companies and organizations in Odisha to interact with Gujarat were the main topics of discussion.

Speaking to the crowd, Gamit emphasized the complementing industrial strengths of the two states, citing Gujarat’s industrial infrastructure, ports, semiconductor ecosystem, renewable energy capability, and global connections as well as Odisha’s well-established minerals, metals, and aluminum industries.

“Odisha has established itself as a leading centre for Minerals, Metal and aluminum. Gujarat brings its own strengths in industrial infrastructure, ports, semiconductors, renewable energy and global connectivity. I firmly believe that by bringing together our industries, entrepreneurs and young talent, we can create new opportunities for innovation, employment and shared prosperity. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our collective efforts will further strengthen the journey towards ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’,” he said.

The Gujarat government claims that the state contributes 25% of India’s merchandise exports and 17% of its manufacturing output. The roadshow demonstrated the potential to link Gujarat’s growing semiconductor, sophisticated manufacturing, and logistics industries with Odisha’s industrial base. A presentation on VGGS 2027 by Sehra and a screening highlighting Gujarat’s textile, renewable energy, and semiconductor industries were also included in the event.

Industry representatives discussed business prospects and the state’s industrial development, sharing their insights and experiences. Gandhinagar will host the 11th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit from January 10–12, 2027. “Viksit Gujarat – Shaping Global Future” is the summit’s theme. Businesses, start-ups, and industry organizations from Odisha have been invited by the Gujarat government to attend the summit and look at joint ventures that will improve interstate supply chains and industrial cooperation.
