Several parts of Odisha received moderate to heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. In fact, almost every state except 4 of them has received some amount of rainfall. The uncanny rainfall in winters has happened due to the major depression created over the Bay Of Bengal.
The highest 154 rainfall was registered at Kalinga in Kandhamal district, followed by 72.4 mm at G Udaygiri in the same district, 70.4 at Salebhata in Balangir, 65 at Jharigaon in Nabarangpur, 57 at Tikabali in Kandhamal, 56.6 at Komna in Nuapada, and 55.6 mm at Raikia in Kandhamal district, the Met office stated.

Bhubaneswar and Cuttack cities received 6.6 mm and 2 mm rainfall during the period.
Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast that rainfall accompanied by hailstone is likely in 11 districts till January 14.
