H&FW Dept Suspends Empanelment Of Private Hospital After Fire Mishap

The state Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department has halted Trisha Hospital’s empanelment under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) in the wake of a fire incident in Cuttack.

In a letter to Trisha facility on Sunday, the Health and Family Welfare department stated, “It is to inform you that pending inquiry by the Health and Family Welfare Department and Fire Department; the empanelment of Trisha Hospital under BSKY is hereby suspended due to the recent fire incident at the hospital.”

In order to guarantee that appropriate fire safety precautions are implemented and protocols are followed at all state hospitals, Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja issued directives on the formation of the special task force made up of representatives from the departments of Home, Energy, and Health. Notably, on Saturday, a fire started at two nursing homes in Telanga Bazar, Cuttack, that share a structure. About forty-five patients barely made it out of the fire that was apparently started by a short circuit.

After the fire at Trisha Hospital on Saturday, a seven-day-old infant was taken to Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack; however, the kid passed away earlier on Sunday while receiving medical attention.
