The Central Government Of India has approved the repatriation of Sunil Kumar Bansal who is currently the Director of Intelligence Bureau. He will shift to Odisha where he will take the responsibility of the new Director-General of Police (DGP).
The Prime Minsiter Of India Shri Narendra Modi along with Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) passed the order for early repatriation of Bansal, a 1987 batch IPS officer.

Bansal will succeed incumbent Abhay who will retire on December 31 this year after completing his two-year tenure. He is likely to assume charge from January 1, 2022, for two years.
The Odisha Government in October had sent three names to Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the appointment of the State DGP. Apart from Bansal, the other two police officers were– Pradeep Kapur (1986 batch) and Manoj Chhabra (1988 batch).
Prior to moving to the Centre, Bansal had held the post of additional SP Dhenkanal, Talcher SDPO and additional SP Sambalpur. He was also Mayurbhanj SP and Vigilance SP at Sambalpur.
