Indian Startups Raise $9.2 Bn VC Funding During Jan-Oct: Report

According to a research released on Friday, between January and October 2024, about 984 venture capital (VC) investment deals were reported in India. The overall declared funding value of these deals increased by 44.4% year over year to $9.2 billion during that time. According to a survey by data and analytics firm GlobalData, deal volume increased 5.8% year over year (YoY). According to the research, 930 venture capital deals totaling $6.4 billion in declared funding value were announced in India during the same time period in 2023.

“Investor confidence seems to be reviving as India demonstrates significant improvement in VC funding activity during the year compared to peer countries. In fact, it was among the few key markets that witnessed the improvement in both deal volume and value during January-October 2024. Moreover, India continues to remain among the top five markets globally for VC funding activity in terms of deal volume as well as value” said Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData.

Additionally, the survey revealed that India accounted for 7.1% of all venture capital deals announced worldwide during this time. However, its proportion of the total funding value that was reported was 4.2%. Zepto raised $665 million in June and another $340 million in August, two noteworthy venture capital fundraising deals in India from January to October. Meesho raised $300 million, PharmEasy raised $216 million, PhysicsWallah raised $210 million, and Purplle raised $178.4 million in other noteworthy fundraising rounds.
