The VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 will be held at six venues in India which will start from 9th April to 30th May as announced by the IPL Governing Council (BCCI).

As per the official news, this year the IPL will be held in India from April 9 2021 in Chennai. After nearly two years, the IPL extravaganza will return home with Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai & Kolkata hosting the marquee event.

This year the event will be started at Chennai with a high clash between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. On 30th May 2021 the closing ceremony will be held at the World’s Largest Cricket Stadium – Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad which will also host the Playoffs and promises to give an extravagant treat to eyes. The newly-built stadium that hosted India’s second Pink Ball fixture at home with great grandeur will host its first-ever IPL.

The report further informed that each team is set to play at four venues during the league stage and out of the 56 league matches, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata & Bengaluru will host 10 matches each while Ahmedabad and Delhi will host 8 matches each. The main highlight of this season’s VIVO IPL will be the fact that all matches will be played at neutral venues, no team will play at their home venue.

All teams will play at 4 out of 6 venues during the league stage and there will be a total of 11 doubleheaders where 6 teams will play three-afternoon matches & two teams will play two-afternoon matches. The afternoon games are slated for a 3:30 PM IST to start while the evening games will have a 7:30 PM IST start.

Last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic the IPL was held in UAE because of the safety protocols. But this year the BCCI stated that this year the IPL will be hosted in India with regards to the health and safety of players and all the team involved being paramount.
