Jagannath Dham To Be Developed As World-Class Historical, Religious, And Cultural Destination

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day by emphasizing the importance of “Odia Asmita” as the fourth pillar of the state’s development model. He highlighted its intrinsic link with Jagannath culture and announced plans to establish Jagannath Dham as a world-class historical, religious, and cultural tourist destination. The government aims to develop Puri into a metropolitan city and has already started constructing a state-of-the-art Shri Jagannath Museum, Library, Research Center, Interpretation Center, and Aquarium. Additionally, Odia has been made mandatory in official government communications.

Majhi also introduced the Mahapurush Adarsh Gram Yojana, which aims to create model villages at the birthplaces of notable Odisha figures. Their legacy will be honored by our endeavor. In addition to outlining a strategy for Odisha’s development that prioritizes infrastructure, healthcare, education, job creation, and economic growth, the chief minister underlined the government’s commitment to keeping its pledges.
