Jagatsinghpur, Nabarangpur districts win SKOCH award

While the state continues to tackle the COVID-19 onslaught, all the districts are leaving no stone unturned to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

Amid all this chaos, Jagatsinghpur and Nabarangpur districts have brought laurels for the state. Both the districts were conferred with the prestigious SKOCH Award in SILVER category for excellence in COVID-19 management.

The award was given away to the district administration for tactfully handling the pandemic situation and the steps taken by them to check the rise of COVID-19 infections.

While both the districts have comparatively reported fewer numbers of COVID-19 positive cases so far, the district administration has undertaken all precautionary measures for the safety of people as laid down by the state government.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to Twitter and congratulated the Jagatsinghpur and Nabarangpur district administration for achieving the feat of superior Covid-19 management.

Taking to Twitter, the official handle of Jagatsinghpur Collector also thanked the CM for his constant guidance and also expressed gratitude for the wholehearted support by the people of the district in obeying all guidelines and untiring work by the officials.

Sangram Keshari Mohapatra, Collector & District Magistrate, Jagatsinghpur district said, “The award will motivate us to intensify our fight against the coronavirus. If we stay together and do not lose hope, this situation too shall pass.”

Dr Ajit Kumar Mishra, Collector & District Magistrate, Nabarangpur district expressed happiness over winning the coveted award and dedicated the victory to the COVID-19 warriors who are fighting it hard to serve others.

It is pertinent to note that, SKOCH Award, instituted in 2003, is the highest civilian honour in the country conferred by an independent organisation and recognises people, projects and institutions that go the extra mile to make India a better nation.

The award covers the best of efforts in the area of digital, financial and social inclusion. It encompasses the best of governance, inclusive growth, excellence in technology and applications, change management, corporate leadership, corporate governance, citizen service delivery, capacity building, empowerment and other such softer issues that get normally lost in the glamour and glitz of industry-sponsored or advertising focussed jamborees.
