JSPL Foundation: New Paradigms in CSR

JSPL Foundation: New Paradigms in CSR

JSPL Foundation is the executing arm of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. group CSR activities, which works for sustainable improvement in the community’s quality of life. The Foundation strives to drive and execute community care projects to nourish the lives of those we touch through our multidimensional holistic projects while also performing the social responsibility of JSPL in nation-building.

It is led by Ms Shallu Jindal, wife of JSPL Chairman Naveen Jindal. Shallu, a disciple of Padmavibhushan Gurus Raja Radha and Kaushalya Reddy, is a highly accomplished Kuchipudi danseuse and a noted social contributor. She has been honoured with many awards for her outstanding achievements in Indian classical dance (Kuchipudi) and contribution in art and culture, education, and community development.

By her admission, JSPL Foundation’s objective is to bring about a meaningful change to the lives of the underprivileged across the country and strive to integrate them into the mainstream. This mission has no geographical and social boundaries, and JSPL Foundation is open to working in any part of the country.

The Foundation conducts programmes at the state and national level through the Swayamsiddh and Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman. We felicitate grassroots level community leaders contributing to nation-building and communicating the JSPL Foundation’s overall objective to the nation. The Foundation has instituted a unique initiative called SwayamShilp, wherein a series of workshops will be conducted across India, thereby providing artists from the tribal hinterland of the country with a national platform.

“I believe that there is no end to the contribution one can give for the betterment of our society. Working towards the upliftment of the underprivileged is the best way to serve mankind. What we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But, it is each drop that together makes the ocean. Today, we are here tomorrow our future generation will carry forward the work of the JSPL Foundation. The journey will go on”, she said.

JSPL Foundation is dedicated to the cause of humanity. It is focused upon improving the Human Development Index by positioning itself as a parenting force of various Social Change Agents operating at the ground level. The Foundation has been the guiding force of the sustainable social development initiatives implemented by Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. across its business locations. The CSR interventions are focused on enhancing the quality of life of the community in the vicinity of business locations and other parts of the country by way of improving community healthcare and education, and also developing critical civic infrastructures besides generating sustainable livelihood options, promoting sports, art & culture and several other programmes.

The Foundation has aligned its programmes with the Government and other developmental agencies to bring about a radical transformation in the lives of the communities and integrate them into the mainstream development process of the country. The Foundation drives holistic community initiatives to help address some of the persistent social challenges in Health & Nutrition, Water & Sanitation, Education, Skill Development, Sustainable Livelihood & Women Empowerment, Environment & Agriculture, Sports, Art & Culture, Rural Infrastructure and Social Inclusion.

The Foundation’s CSR interventions are executed with a 3600 approach with the thrust on profile analysis, developing new projects based on learning, social evaluations, project formulation considering stakeholder & responsible partnership, project implementation and concurrent participatory monitoring.

JSPL Foundation has taken up a slew of CSR activities like Promotion of Community Dairy, Formation and Strengthening of Farmers’ Groups, Promotion of SRI Technology, Mushroom Cultivation, Project Sneh, Telemedicine centres etc. The company is also implementing one of its flagship programmes- the Kishori Express in Haryana to eliminate anaemia in adolescent girls, an initiative implemented under the Prime Minister’s Aspirational District. Through its CSR programmes, JSPL impacts about 20 lakh people living in 537 villages in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha.
JSPL Foundation has spared no effort in creating awareness on preventing the Covid-19 pandemic in rural and tribal villages using AVs, social media, pamphlets, audio jingles and radio. The Vision of the Foundation is propelled by 3Ps – People, Planet & Profit.

10 Years in positive journalism, and counting…..

One decade of carrying positive journalism is no less than providing a service to the nation. As a result, the fear of losing the respect of the readers is what prevents us not to be stopping to any publications related to those inspiring personalities on a regulative basis in order to attain inspiration. We believe that we have espoused the cause of positive and developmental journalism with utmost honesty and rigor. Unfazed by the competing media platforms who are obsessed with the TRP game and have no qualms in compromising time honored media ethics, we can safely claim we are out of this mad race for recognition. Rather, we chose the path less trodden. And, that has positioned The Interview Times where you find it today. We chose to play up the stories of those personalities who climbed the success ladder by the dint of their grit and gumption. These were the stories which escaped the wide lens of the big media. That is the narrative which you and I find relatable. And, we count on your support and patronage to keep this tradition running.

Once again, I would like to state that the entire family of Interview Times Media Network is firmly committed to positive journalism in pursuit of making a better society in the days to come. Journalism is a passion for us, not a profession. Let’s celebrate.

In this traumatic pandemic, a thank you note is incomplete without saluting the departed as well as those who lost their loved ones while pursuing journalism selflessly. Hope better days are in the offing with light and rays.

It is therefore asked all of your’s noble donations to sustain the importance of pursuing positive journalism round the year.Lets value it sacredly.
