Swapna Suresha, who was appointed as a marketing official in the IT is believed to be the key suspect in the gold smuggling case which was reported last week.

Now, the Congress leaders, as well as their counterparts in UDF and BJP, have demanded the registration of Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan after getting more details about alleged links of Swapna Suresha and the person who is purportedly close to CM.

Vijayan has now requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to order a probe by central agencies while assuring the state government support. Here, the case is now taking centre stage across Kerala as well as the entire country.

The CM said in a letter to Modi, “The case has more than one angle, warranting a thorough investigation. It is requested that an effective and coordinated investigation into this incident by all central agencies concerned is the need of the hour’’.

Questions are being raised by Opposition parties on why Suresha was appointed a few months ago on contract as the marketing liaison officer and CM was behind her appointment. The smuggling case is about on Sunday, the customs at the Thiruvananthapuram airport seized 30 kg gold, valued at about Rs 15 crore.

The entire gold is packed in cartoon weight 79 kg, where it contained foodstuff. By doing the close examination there was gold inside. Now it is being claimed by some political parties that all airports in the country need come under the central government’s jurisdiction.

For any issue happening here, the central government is responsible and the state government has nothing to do with it, they held. The UAE Mission in Delhi said that their authorities have launched an investigation to find out as to who despatched the cargo containing gold to the UAE consultant.
