The School of Human Resource Management, XIM University, in collaboration with XIMAHR and NHRDN Bhubaneswar Chapter, organized Kshitij’24 on “Green HRM: Gaining a Competitive Edge through Sustainable HR Practices” on 7th December 2024. The event featured a welcome note by Fr. S. Antony Raj, SJ, XIM University, and an inaugural address by Dr. Andrew Dutta, Dean of SHRM, highlighting the importance of sustainability. Ms. Bobby Patnaik, President of NHRDN Bhubaneswar, emphasized the challenges and significance of implementing sustainable practices.
Keynote speaker Ms. Amreeta Mazumdar, Global HR Head at Avataar, stressed how ESG practices boost consumer demand and investor interest. She urged companies to build sustainable workforces, adopt decarbonizing technologies, and promote diversity, emphasizing the need for compassionate leadership, creative policies, and intent-driven actions for a sustainable future.
The inauguration concluded with the facilitation of dignitaries and the release of the annual HR magazine, HRXpert, featuring insightful articles on HR developments and showcasing exemplary stories of students and alumni.
The event was conducted in two phases:
- Panel discussion
- Case competition
The event featured a panel discussion with esteemed speakers. The discussion explored organizations’ shift to sustainable practices, including zero-paper HR, hybrid work models, and ESG awareness. Panellists emphasized regulatory compliance, innovative initiatives like zero fly ash dumping, and leadership-driven strategies, stressing sustainability as a necessity driven by resource scarcity and stakeholder demands. Challenges like regulatory alignment and employee engagement were also addressed. The headliner event of Kshitij was the case competition where Team TISS Vijetas from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, was declared the winner, while Team Team Showstoppers from MDI Gurgaon stood as the first runner-up and Team HRenaissance from XIM University Bhubaneswar as the second runner-up.
The ending note was delivered by Ms. Vrinda Kataria, Coordinator, XIMAHR, who congratulated the winners and everyone who participated in the event and inspired the students to think differently and expand their horizons.
