As the lockdown curbs have been eased by the state government, Dhenkanal, which is now in category A witnessed a mad rush of people in the markets. Twenty districts of the state with the test positivity rate below 5% are put in category A and the rest 10 districts are placed in category B as per the new guideline issued by the Govt. of Odisha. Dhenkanal, as placed in category A, shops remain open from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm all days but it seems like people are overwhelmed to come out to roads in large numbers. In many junctions and bazaars of the town the sight of teenager triple riding are a common sight to behold.Susant Sahoo, a resident of Dhenkanal town said, ” we all should be aware about the ongoing situation, we should move out of our house unless that necessary, though the daily positive cases has been decreased, still we need to follow all the guidelines issued by the government to ensure our as well as others safety.”
The district reported 34 fresh covid-19 positive cases during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile 72 people have recovered and 4 people succumbed during this time.
The total caseload of the district stands at 17917 while 17099 people have recovered so far. The number of active case stands at 729. As many as 89 people have succumbed to the virus till now as informed by the District Administration of Dhenkanal via its different social media handles.
