Odisha wutnessed a chilly winter till December 23rd. After which the temperature became from mild to moderate wintry with dense fog or light rain. However, since the new year 2022, temperatures have again taken a dip in many parts of the state. The mercury keeps dropping and once again Odisha is witnessing chilly winter from January 1.

On January 2, the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneshwar experienced the minimum temperatures of 13 degree and 12.9 degree celsius respectively. Daringbadi recorded 7 degrees Celsius, the coldest place in the state.
Other places recording less than 15 degrees Celsius were Sundergarh (13), Baripada (12), Balasore (12.5), Jharsuguda (10.2), Hirakud (12.7), Keonjhar (9.5), Chandbali (12), Bolangir (12.5), Sonepur (11), Sambalpur (12.8), Talcher (12), Titlagarh (9.3), Boudh (12.5), Angul (13), Phulbani (10), Bhawanipatna (11.8), Chatrapur (14), Koraput (10.5) and Rayagada (14.7).
