In Bihar, a four-lane bridge linking Sultanganj in the Bhagalpur district with Khagaria that was still under construction collapsed on Sunday. Numerous workers were reportedly on the bridge when one of its sections fell, and some of them are believed to be dead. However, no casualty numbers have yet been released by the Bihar government or the district administration of Bhagalpur.
On social media, a video showing the bridge’s collapse while it was still being built has gone viral. After hearing the news, district administration representatives hurried to the collapse site and started an inquiry. Last year, there was another collapse of the bridge between Sultanganj and Khagaria. The bridge had fallen, according to the officials at the time, because of strong winds. The Bihar government had promised to take legal action against “SK Singla” Construction.
Following the examination, the firm was granted the all-clear and given time to finish the job. The bridge’s construction started in 2014, and since then, six deadlines have been missed. The bridge fell on June 30, which was the sixth deadline. Beginning on March 9, 2015, the bridge was under construction. Nitish Kumar, the chief minister, had dedicated the endeavor.
