Another Odia officer has got major role at the center. Odia officer Jagannath Mohapatra will be the next chairman of the Central Direct Tax Board. He will take office on June 1. He is currently a member of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). He has been given this additional responsibility for the next three months. Pramod Chandra Modi, the current chairman, ends his term on May 31. On February 15, 2019, Pramod Chandra Modi took over as the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
As Pramod Chandra Modi’s term expires on May 31, Jagannath Vidyadhar Mohapatra has been unanimously appointed as the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). Jagannath will hold the post until the regular chairman is elected. Jagannath Vidyadhar Mohapatra is a 1985 batch IRS officer. He served as the Principal Chief Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has one chairman and four members. The rank of all its members is equal to that of the Special Secretary.
