An Odia child has received recognition from all around the world after his study on robot emotions during human interaction made news in Western and European media. Meet Chinmaya Mishra, a Sambalpur citizen who asserted to have conducted a thorough investigation whose conclusions are regarded as the first in the world to automate robot emotions using LLMs.

Mishra, a postdoctoral research scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (Netherlands) in the Multimodal Language Department, studied gaze and emotions, two important non-verbal behaviours in human-robot interactions. He used GenAI in his robotics research as well. His research centred on the use of LLMs (such as chatGPT) to automate a robot’s emotional responses in human-robot interactions.

Mishra is eager to try something new in robotics research in Odisha, even in the face of attractive job offers from outside. Mishra attended ITER Engineering College in Bhubaneswar to pursue engineering degrees after completing his education in Puri and Jeypore.
