A BJP leader from Bhubaneshwar has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a lady doctor. The BJP leader is also a local businessman and has been sent to jail today morning.
The accused, identified as Biswajit Swain was sent to Special Jail here at Jharpara after his bail was rejected by the court. Swain, a ‘Pravari’ of BJP Kisan Morcha was suspended from the party following this incident. Swain had allegedly beaten up a woman doctor over an issue pertaining to car parking in Laxmi Sagar area of the city.
Police arrested him on the basis of the doctor’s FIR. The victim, said, “I was beaten for around 30 minutes in the presence of my mother. My mother was also pushed when she tried to protect me.”
