The Odisha Cabinet today approved a proposal of the School and Mass Education Department to regularize 3,328 Multi-Lingual Education (MLE) Sikshya Sahayaks. The eligible MLE Sikshya Sahayaks became Junior Teachers after completion of 3 years of continuous service and will be Asst. Teacher after completion of 3 years of continuous and satisfactory service as Junior Teacher.
The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved other 12 major decisions relating to the departments of Energy, Industries, Water Resources, Fisheries and Animal Resource Development, Housing and urban Development, Law, Works and Parliamentary Affairs, informed Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra.
According to the reports, after their regularization they will be guided by the Odisha Elementary Education (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Teachers and Officers) Rules, 1997 and as amended from time to time. It is pertinent to mention here that in view of providing equitable quality education to the Scheduled Tribe children, recognizing the importance of language influencing education, and to give opportunity to the tribal children to learn in their mother tongue these 3328 MLE Sikshya Sahayaks were recruited from tribal candidates of 17 districts having requisite qualification during 2013 under Samagra Shikshya.
The other major decisions taken by the Cabinet included approval of projects for solving the low voltage problem in different areas of the State; construction of Sandul barrage project in Kalahandi district; construction of underground pipeline irrigation system from Rengali right irrigation system for irrigation in Dhenkanal and Cuttack districts; construction of underground pipeline from Anandapur barrage for irrigation in Balasore district; turnkey tender amounting Rs 888,50,00,003 for construction of residential accommodation (Staff Quarters & Hostels) under phase I of Redevelopment and expansion of SCB Medical College and Hospital; and decision taken to amend the provisions pertaining to reservation of seats/office of the Chairperson/Mayor in favour of Backward Class Citizen (BCC) in the Odisha Municipal Act, 1950 and Odisha Municipal Corporation Act, 2003.
