Ashish Thakare, an IAS officer from the 2011 batch from Odisha, has been appointed by the Indian government as the Director of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in Delhi under the Central Staffing Scheme. The appointment is for a period of five years or until additional instructions are issued, whichever comes first, and it takes effect on the day Thakare takes over.
The Odisha Government has been instructed to relieve Thakare of his existing responsibilities immediately so that he can begin his new job in Delhi, according to an official message released on Tuesday, June 3, by Sakshi Mittal, Director, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
The notification further states that Thakare must start the new position within three weeks of the appointment order, dated June 30, 2025, in accordance with the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) norms, which were published on August 17, 2005. The notification further said that noncompliance might result in expulsion from the Central Staffing Scheme.
